Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Hingesmith, operated by Kevin Merritt, doing business as Hingesmith, handles and why. The short version: there are no accounts, no analytics and no advertising trackers, and we never see your card details.

Information stored in your browser

• Your design settings (shape, dimensions, hinge, lid, finish, sheet size) are saved in your browser's local storage so the Studio remembers them. They stay on your device.
• la_claim cookie: a random identifier, not linked to your name or email, that connects a checkout to this browser. It lasts up to 400 days.
• la_pro cookie: a signed token that says Pro is active and when it expires.

Both cookies are HttpOnly and strictly necessary for the service. We do not use cookies for analytics or advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Information sent to our servers

• Exports. When you export a file, your design settings are sent to our server, which generates the file and returns a download link that expires after 10 minutes. We do not keep a copy of your design.
• Purchases. When you buy Pro, Lemon Squeezy notifies us with an order or subscription ID and your browser's random claim identifier. We store that pairing and the resulting Pro token so we can unlock Pro, renew it, or turn it off after a refund or cancellation. We do not store your name, email address or payment details.
• License restore. If you paste a license key into the Studio, we send it to Lemon Squeezy to check that it is valid.
• Abuse protection. Your IP address is used in server memory to rate-limit requests and is not written to storage. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs.

Payments

Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for all purchases. It collects your name, email address, billing address and payment details to process the payment, calculate tax and send your receipt, under its own privacy policy.

• Lemon Squeezy: payments, tax, receipts and license keys.
• Cloudflare, Inc. and Upstash, Inc. (United States): hosting and the database that stores Pro entitlements.

How long we keep information

Entitlement records are kept while your Pro access is active and for a short period afterwards (up to 30 days after a refund or cancellation is processed), then deleted automatically. Download links expire after 10 minutes.

Your choices and rights

You can clear the Studio's local storage and cookies at any time in your browser settings; doing so signs that browser out of Pro until you restore it with your license key. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access or delete information about you. Email support@hingesmith.com and we will help. Children

The Studio is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
