Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Hingesmith (the "Studio") at https://hingesmith.com, operated by Kevin Merritt, doing business as Hingesmith ("we", "us"). By using the Studio you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Studio.

1. What the Studio does

The Studio is a browser-based tool that generates laser-cut box designs with living hinges, shows a 3D preview, and exports cut files (SVG and DXF). The free tier and the paid Pro tier are described on the pricing page. We may add, change or remove features over time.

2. Purchases

Pro is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy processes your payment, collects any applicable sales tax or VAT and issues your receipt, and its own buyer terms also apply to your purchase. Prices are shown in US dollars; tax may be added at checkout depending on where you live.

• Pro Lifetime is a one-time payment that unlocks Pro features in the Studio for as long as we operate it.
• Pro Monthly and Pro Yearly renew each month or each year until you cancel. When you cancel, Pro stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.

Pro is unlocked in your browser with a signed cookie. Your receipt includes a license key that you can use to unlock Pro on another device. Keep it private; sharing a license key publicly may lead us to deactivate it.

3. Refunds

Refunds are handled under our refund policy. If a payment is refunded or charged back, Pro is turned off for that purchase.

4. Your designs and files

The settings you choose and the files you export are yours to use for your own projects, including making physical items to sell. You may not resell, share or redistribute the exported files or the Studio itself as a design product, template pack or competing service.

5. Acceptable use

• Do not try to get around the Pro checks, for example by scripting the export service or tampering with download links.
• Do not overload, scrape, probe or disrupt the Studio or the services it relies on.
• Do not use the Studio in a way that breaks the law.

6. Safety

Laser cutters can start fires and produce harmful fumes. Follow your machine manufacturer's instructions, never leave a running laser unattended, only cut materials that are safe for your machine, and make a test cut before committing good material. You are responsible for checking every file before you cut it and for operating your equipment safely.

7. No warranty

The Studio is provided "as is". We work to make the files accurate, but materials, machines and kerf vary, and we do not promise that every design will fit, fold or close exactly as previewed, or that the Studio will always be available or error-free.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for wasted material, machine time or damage to equipment. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Studio is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.

9. Changes and termination

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use the Studio after a change means you accept it. We may suspend access for anyone who breaks these terms. You can stop using the Studio at any time.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, United States.
