  1. Pro Lifetime: $149 until November 30, $179 from December 1

Pro now makes a box from any outline you draw, and a lifetime key covers everything added after it, so the one-time price goes up once, on December 1, 2026. Buy before then at $149. Pro Monthly ($9) and Pro Yearly ($59) are not changing, and subscribers keep the price they signed up at. Shops, makerspaces and schools can now get a site licence by email: $249 a year for up to 10 machines, $399 for a whole space, half price for schools and non-profits.

  2. Your own outline: a box of any shape

Upload an SVG with one closed outline (a logo, a pet’s silhouette, a brand shape) in the Studio’s Geometry tab and it becomes a living-hinge box like any catalog shape: corners rounded to the bend radius of your stock, folded in 3D, exported as SVG or DXF. Previewing is free; exporting a box from your own outline is a Pro feature. A new guide explains how to prepare the file.

  3. Three free calculators, an RSS feed and free sample files

A living-hinge calculator (cut spacing for any bend radius and pattern), a kerf calculator and a box cost and price calculator, all using the Studio’s own numbers. Free SVG sample files of the three free shapes to download without opening the Studio, comparison pages against boxes.py, MakerCase and Box Studio, and this changelog with an RSS feed.

  4. Free box of the month, and seasonal lid motifs for the free shapes

A new free design every month on /free-box, with an optional monthly email. The three free shapes can now carry a seasonal motif on the lid (a pumpkin, a snowflake, a heart and more), and a design link can carry the motif too.

  5. A page for every shape, hinge and collection, and eight guides

Each of the 100 shapes, 21 hinges and 13 collections has its own page with a 3D render, what its cut file contains and a link that opens it in the Studio. Guides on how living hinges work, kerf, laser settings, the bend test, LightBurn and xTool import, assembly, wood and selling. A Share button in the Studio copies a link to your exact design.

  6. 100 shapes, 21 hinges, lid art

66 new shapes in 13 seasonal and theme collections, 8 new hinge patterns (Ripple, Leaf Vine, Lantern, Heartbeat, Lightning, Herringbone, Zipper, Braid), a line drawing scored on every lid, and a shape picker with search. Every shape was built with every hinge on 3, 4 and 6 mm stock before release.

  7. Pro is on sale, and the app installs

Pro Monthly, Yearly and Lifetime went live through Lemon Squeezy. A refund turns Pro off everywhere it was unlocked. Hingesmith installs as an app on Windows, macOS, Android and iPhone from the Get the app page.

  8. Hinges spaced from the wood’s twist limit, and a free bend test

Cut spacing now follows the curvature at every point of the wall and plywood’s shear-strain limit, with alternate cuts running out through the edges. The Hinge tab downloads a free bend-test strip, and a Wood flex setting tunes every box to your sheet.
